A quick update on what is happening behind the scene these days

I have been trying to overhaul my blog completely of late. It has been more than two years that I have stopped posting regularly. However, the pandemic has given a new leash of life to my blog. As I resume, I thought, I should also do some revamp.

It has been a week today, 22 June 2021. I will need another one to complete what I have started. And I wanted to share some thoughts...and give you, my dear readers, some directions and make it easier for you to browse through the posts and pages here.

I will make it quick. Let me begin structurally from the top.

Menu. I have been experimenting with the menu from Day 1 of blogging. In the latest design, I have completely rewritten the text for all the pages and incorporated new HTML-CSS-aided updates. Some new features include the Subscribe page, which has also been changed with the service provider. Google has announced that it will shut down Feedburner, so I have migrated to Follow.it, and it is pretty cool.

Yet the spotlight must be on Archive (see below). It is bae! It is my most favourite page for now. I had tried so many ways to get something like this but in vain. So, essentially it is a table of contents for all my posts, right from November 2010. Just the number of feeds is limited so you will need to go to the Monthly Records to check the posts updated before Nov 2010.

I have also revamped the Contact page using the form on Blogger. Earlier I was using an embedded code from Google Form.

This is my favourite page!

Subscription. As mentioned, in the social media section, you can see the arrow icon of Follow.it. Like any other RSS subscription service tool, it allows you to publish posts with  custom subscription buttons. For readers, it is a great place to check all your favourite websites in one place without ever worrying about missing an update. For now, I will say it is the best alternative to Feedburner. With its several options for delivery channels and content filters, plus analytics to optimize retention rates, I have decided to go ahead with this tool.

Besides the page, I have also inserted a Follow.it widget right below the social media icons. I hope that will make it easier for you if you are using a PC or a laptop.

And do subscribe. Here is the link: https://follow.it/kapil-arambam

Important Keywords - Labels

Important Keywords. It is another fancy term for the labels or categories. I have also always had this section but this is the area which is taking most of my time. I have a reason. Earlier it was not comprehensive, and only those posts from 2013 had been labelled properly. Now I have started from May 2007, which was when I started blogging. Still I find that the information for 2007-2010 are a bit sporadic so I have used a few generic labels such as The Beginning, Prose and Poetry from College Days, and Private Investigation that I had already used for a series of write-ups.

Finally, I have to label the posts updated between 2010 and 2012. Then I have two articles lined up: one on the changing nature of the use of social media and another on why conformists are real scary people. Hope you will enjoy reading them. Till then, stay safe and keep coming back!
