Human Anatomy in Meitei Mayek Typography
PROLOGUE All the primary letters in Meitei Mayek are named according to human anatomy, except for Atiya (in image # 7/10). That's just a starter. Numerals are also shapes that connote to the growth of a developing foetus over nine human months.
ABOUT THE TYPEFACE Geometeeyek is a portmanteau of geometry and Meiteilon eeyek (loosely alphabets). This custom typeface is inspired by slab serifs but with a twist as visible in its square-ish appearance that is created without serifs/strokes.
PS: The original Geometreeyek typeface is available in vector graphics, and only for non-commercial use if you ever fancy it! #meiteimayek #meiteilon #anatomy #typography #abugida #geometreeyek

The connection between human anatomy and Meitei Mayek typography is both intellectually engaging and visually compelling. Transforming the script into a design system inspired by the human body reflects remarkable creativity while celebrating the cultural depth of Meitei heritage. This is an outstanding example of how typography can preserve tradition, communicate meaning, and inspire contemporary design all at once.
