Top Selling Albums of All Time

Can you name your top favourite western pop and rock music albums of all time?

It is always tricky to me: once I made a list, for instance, of the top five albums, I will get another five other albums a few minutes later. Apparently it is the music as a whole and not the perception of the best piece, which attracts us to an album or a band or simply a single.

Is there really an ultimate list of the top selling albums? No two lists have ever the same ranking of these albums. It is almost impossible, in fact, to get it or make one. The subjective nature of music and the vastness of the reach make it even harder. Nonetheless many music lovers across the world have been carrying out surveys to place the albums in an order. The following illustration is from the ranking created by Amazon, the eCommerce giant. You can check the top 100 albums on their The Best-Selling Albums of All Time page.
