Critical Tomba 5: Weapon of Mass Development

Imphal, July 11: The Tekhao Rifles’ annual celebration on the theme of ‘People in Manipur as a Weapon of Development’ under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Military Democracy and Geopolitics concluded here today with fanfare. The event commenced with the handing over of Hoirongbam Muthut—who had been kept in an undisclosed location somewhere in the heart of Imphal and tortured for having unknown links with a proscribed organisation—to the city police in Imphal West. As a rehearsal, a woman was shot dead in Moreh yesterday and the paperwork of honouring a gallantry award completed on time. The event’s chief guest, Mathurai Goswami, the COO of defence staff of the TR, expressed that the event had been a significant part of the military’s intervention in civil administration in the state. Later, the function ended in style with a spectacular dance show presented by Pathimayum Pakpa, the MLA from Thibot assembly constituency and his counterpart from Thibak A/C, Chanambam Memcha.
